About Us

Welcome to Corwin Sports Psychology

My name is Reese Corwin. A former athlete with over 20 years of sports experience. My journey began at the age of 4-5 years old, playing multiple sports and taking on high-pressure roles like goalie in hockey, quarterback in football, and goalkeeper in soccer. Each of these positions shared a common thread: the intense pressure and responsibility they demanded. From a young age, I thrived on the challenge, eagerly stepping onto the field or ice with a deep sense of purpose and leadership.

Today, I channel that same drive and focus into helping athletes like you conquer the mental aspects of performance. With a strong foundation of both practical experience and specialized education, my mission is to equip you with the psychological tools needed to enhance your performance, find your true motivations and maintain mental well-being. Let’s work together to unlock your potential and transform your approach to the game and life.

Education & Experience

Education

Pennsylvania West University
Masters of Science in Exercise Science

Concentrations: Sport Psychology, Performance Enhancement & Injury Prevention.

January 2022- August 2023

During my master’s program, I delved deeply into various aspects of sports psychology, including psychological practices, learning techniques, personality dynamics, motivation strategies, and behavioral tendencies. This intensive period of study provided me with invaluable insights and a rich understanding of how these elements impact athletic performance.

At PennWest, my curiosity and motivation reached their peak. I was driven by an eagerness to absorb every bit of knowledge available, fully immersing myself in sports psychology practices. This dedication not only enhanced my expertise but also solidified my commitment to becoming a highly effective Sports Psychologist. The comprehensive insights gained during these years are now integral to my approach, guiding and benefiting the athletes I work with.

Arizona State University-
Bachelors of Arts in Psychology

August 2017- May 2021

ASU laid down a solid foundation of my knowledge in Psychology. It was at Arizona State where my love for Psychology blossomed and I knew I was in the right place for my interests. It was unfortunate COVID had happened during these years but I am still extremely grateful for the overall experience, professors and erudition. Soaking up 3.5 years of the psychology fundamentals and numerous types of practices really pushed me to go further into this subject and dive deeper into the Sports Psychology field.

Hamilton High School

August 2014- May 2017

Like most of us, I believe these 4 years is where I was sculpted and fine tuned when it came to what I wanted to do with my future. The athletics at Hamilton, a powerhouse 6A school, was my main foundation in athletics, however the friends I made along with the connections I have with those friends today are the biggest takeaway from those years. It was my senior year while playing varsity goalkeeper with those friends, that I began to ask myself more complex questions about the mental side of sports and using that to gain the edge over the competition. From here, I was hooked as I realized my mental game was just as valuable as my physical game.

Experience in Sport

What experience do I have in the Sports World?

My journey in the sports world has been marked by victories, enduring friendships, and a mix of highs and lows, but it was through overcoming these hardships that I truly grew both as an athlete and as an individual. As I mentioned before, I played hockey, soccer, and football when I was growing up in Chandler, Arizona with my two older brothers. I enjoyed hockey for a few years as a goalie, played quarterback in football up until high school, but I played soccer from the age of 4 until I was 20 years old. 16 years invested into playing one sport and I continue to coach soccer today because of the passion I have for this game. During those active soccer years, I played club soccer for 8 years, all 4 years of high school, and 1.5 years in college. I was fortunate to be on a club team consistently ranked in the top 10 in state during my 8 years. I played for Hamilton high school which was in the middle of a dynasty in boys soccer that equated to 4 semi-final appearances, 2 State Championship appearances and 1 State Championship in 2016. The rise of my soccer career from 12-18 years old was filled with the happiest moments of my life, my best friends still to this day, and memories of laughter and victory.

In the past, I wanted to go play at the highest level but now I am ecstatic to be able to coach and relay my knowledge, information, tactics, and understanding of the game to teenagers going through some of the most important developmental phases of their lives. Seeing these students succeed and see their talent and skill come to fruition is way more rewarding than if I was playing for myself. I hope I can coach effectively and with compassion for the rest of my life.

What am I doing now? Currently, I am an assistant coach at Brophy College Prep for Varsity boys soccer along with a Sports Performance Specialist at Redline Athletics in Scottsdale, AZ. I have also accepted a role at Insight Psychology helping with the construction of a concussion baseline program along with being able to see clients for Sports Psychology Coaching!
